It’s the time of year when most pools are filled and opened for use. It is also the time of year to warn against wearing your jewelry in the pool (or even when using chlorine bleach in the laundry). Pieces made of silver or base metals may show instant damage like rust or tarnish. Even base metal jewelry that does not react with your skin will have a chemical reaction to the chlorine. Gold jewelry can slowly disintegrate over time, so damage may not be noticeable immediately, but settings may loosen and stones can fall out of them.
