Don Brown, owner of Don's Jewelry & Design and Master IJO Jeweler, has been serving Washington and the surrounding areas with their jewelry needs for over 50 years. Don first became interested in jewelry upon completion of high school in 1968 when he answered a local ad as an apprentice for jewelry repair at Logan Jewelry. As an apprentice, Don learned all aspects of the jewelry business and by 1978 he was offered the opportunity for part ownership in Logan Jewelry. In September 1999, Don purchased the jewelry store from the Logan family and renamed the business to Don's Jewelry & Design.

 

Don's wife, Shirley Brown, was a behind the scenes partner doing the bookwork and occasionally working on the sales floor part-time. In 2001, Shirley began to work full-time and has become very knowledgeable in all aspects of the jewelry business.

 

Don and Shirley's daughter, Karen Kuhlman, graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in Finance. Upon completion of college she immediately joined the family business in 2004 full-time as the store manager. Since joining the family business she has taken distance courses from the prestigious Gemological Institute of America (G.I.A.) and earned her Accredited Jewelers Professional (A.J.P.) title in 2007.

 

Don, Shirley, and Karen travel all over the United States and Europe to attend seminars and trade show to further their education as well as bring the latest jewelry trends to you.
